  1. Basics of Neverwinter

Dungeons

There are many dungeons to go and fight in in the game. There are different types of dungeons:

Dungeons

The Random Dungeon Queue only requires Level 5... But most of the dungeons in the Dungeon Queue scale you to 24k item level, which means that if you go there below 24k item level, you will be particularly underleveled. Not only that, but many of these dungeons require a proper tank and healer... and below level 20 you do not have all of your powers, and you would only be a nuisance for others players, which would end up in a very bad experience for everyone, especially for you.

A few of the dungeons in the Dungeon Queue are mechanic heavy (particularly Fangbreaker Island and Spellplague Cavern). These should be in the Advanced Queue honestly, the devs were high when they put them in queues available for level 5 characters... Well, they were high when they allowed level 5 characters in dungeons scaling you to 24k item level in the first place...

These are the Dungeons in the random queue at the moment:

  • The Cloak Tower

  • The Frozen Heart

  • Pirate's King Retreat

  • Cavern of Karrundax

  • Temple of the Spider

  • Cragmire Crypts

  • Gray Wolf Den

  • Malabog’s Castle

  • Castle Never

  • Fangbreaker Island (FBI)

  • Valindra’s Tower

  • Lair of Lostmauth

  • The Demonweb Pits

Skirmish

The Random Skirmish Queue can be played as soon as you reach Level 20 and 20k item level. But many Skirmishes scale you to 24k Item Level, which means that if you go there with a lower item level, you may be underleveled and not perform as well as most would expect (with 20k instead of 24k, everyone else will have 20% more HP and deal 20% more damage than you, just because of their Item Level). Skirmishes are a good source of RAD (6000 for the first Random Skirmish Queue of the day, plus some RAD in chests at the end) until you can reliably do both the Random Advanced Dungeon Queue and the Random Trial Queue. They also reward currency for their respective campaigns. Skirmishes have scores. The better your score (which depends on how fast you are, or how much enemies you kill or objectives you fill in a certain time...), the better your rewards at the end (gold is required for some of the best rewards, but it usually doesn't make too much of a difference).

There are 9 Skirmishes:

  • Prophecy of Madness

  • Throne of the Dwarven Gods

  • Master of the Hunt

  • Dread Legion

  • Illusionist's Gambit

  • Kessel's Retreat

  • The Shores of Tuern

  • Manycoins Bank Heist

  • The Merchant Prince's Folly

Advanced Dungeons

Advanced Dungeons are mechanic heavy dungeons. You need 30k item level to be able to enter the Random Advanced Dungeon Queue, but the scaling for some of the dungeons in the queue is 36k (which means that if you enter the queue below 36k, you risk being significantly underleveled). There are 5 Advanced Dungeons, the last one, much harder, not being in the queue:

  • Tomb of the Nine Gods (T9)

  • Castle Ravenloft (CR)

  • Lair of the Mad Mage (LoMM)

  • The Infernal Citadel (IC)

  • Spellplague Caverns

  • The Vault of Stars (VOS) (not in the random queue)

Trials

Trials are all about mechanics. Most of them are not particularly hard when you know what to do, but the last 2 trials (Tower of The Mad Mage and Zariel's Challenge, which are not in the random queue) are extremely challenging. You need 40k item level to be able to enter the Random Trial Queue, but the scaling for some of the dungeons in the queue is 48k (which means that if you enter the queue below 48k, you risk being significantly underleveled).

There are 6 Trials:

  • Rise of Tiamat

  • Crown of Keldegonn

  • Assault on Svardborg

  • Cradle of the Death God (CoDG)

  • Demogorgon

  • Tower of the Mad Mage (ToMM) (not in the random queue)

  • Zariel's Challenge (ZC) (not in the random queue)

  • Gzemind's Reliquary

  • Defense of the Moondancer (coming in Mod 27)
